Limerick, PA – September 8, 2025: At 11:41 a.m., the Limerick Fire Department was dispatched to a reported single-vehicle crash on Lightcap Road. Responding units included Rescue 51, Battalion 51, and Fire Police.
Car Strikes Bridge and Becomes Unstable
Freedom Valley EMS arrived first on the scene and requested fire department assistance after finding that the vehicle had struck a bridge. The car was left partially hanging off the edge, with the driver’s end down in a ditch. The driver, who was the sole occupant, appeared to have lost control of the vehicle before the crash. Due to the unstable position, the occupant was trapped and unable to exit safely.
Rescue Operation Conducted
The call was upgraded to a vehicle rescue. Fire crews quickly stabilized the car before extricating the trapped driver. Once freed, the driver was transported by EMS to a local hospital for evaluation.
Road Closure During Incident
Pottstown Squad 69 was dispatched to assist but was ultimately not needed. During the incident, Fire Police and Limerick Township Police shut down Lightcap Road between Airport Road and Possum Hollow Road. The road remained closed until the vehicle was removed by tow truck about an hour later.
