PALISADES PARK, NJ — February 8, 2026 — A large overnight blaze destroyed a mixed-use building early Sunday morning in Palisades Park, authorities confirmed.
Fire Reported in Early Hours
Fire crews were dispatched shortly after 2:12 a.m. to a reported fire alarm at 339 Broad Avenue. Upon arrival, first responders found flames coming from the rear of the structure. The temperature at the time was in the single digits, complicating the firefighting effort as several fire hydrants were frozen.
Structure and Fire Spread
The building housed Totowah Restaurant and Ahjae Gookbap on the ground floor, with a residential apartment on the second floor. The fire quickly moved from the rear into the second floor and into the cockloft area of the 2½-story brick building. As flames breached the roof, multiple ladder and engine companies were deployed around the structure.
Fire Suppression Efforts
Fire units from Palisades Park Ladder 1, Fort Lee Ladder 1, and Englewood Truck 1 operated at the scene using master streams and ground crews, working through harsh winter conditions. Salt trucks from local public works were called in to treat icy patches around the fireground.
No Reported Injuries
Fire officials reported no injuries among firefighters working the fire. Emergency responders on scene included the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Arson Investigations Unit and the Countywide Emergency Response Team, which provided on-scene support such as rehabilitation and warming services for crews.
Ongoing Investigation
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by state and local fire authorities.
