Gloucester Township Fire Breaks Out at Autumn Ridge Apartments

Gloucester Township fire

A major Gloucester Township fire erupted early Saturday morning at the Autumn Ridge Apartments, prompting a third alarm fire response. The blaze heavily damaged the wood-frame apartment building and forced emergency crews into extensive rescue and evacuation efforts.

Five Injured and One Hundred Displaced

Officials confirmed that five injured residents were treated for fire-related injuries. More than one hundred displaced occupants were evacuated from the complex as fire quickly spread through multiple units, causing heavy damage throughout the building.

Rapid Fire Spread Triggers Third Alarm Response

At approximately 3:48 a.m., the Camden County fire alarm room dispatched fire companies to the complex located on Little Gloucester Road. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions, leading incident command to request a third alarm fire response.

Multiple aerial ladder companies were positioned around the structure as flames extended to the roof area and upper apartments.

Defensive Fire Attack Due to Structural Concerns

As fire intensified, parts of the roof began to fail. Command ordered firefighters out of the building and initiated a defensive fire attack. Exterior hose streams and aerial master streams were used to stop the spread and protect surrounding structures.

Rescue and Evacuation Efforts

Before defensive operations were declared, firefighters entered the building to conduct rescue and evacuation efforts. Residents were safely removed from affected units, including those trapped in smoke-filled hallways. Emergency medical personnel provided on-scene treatment to the injured.

Apartment Building Suffers Heavy Damage

The apartment building fire caused heavy damage to multiple units, leaving significant destruction to the roof and upper floors. Municipal officials and apartment management are working to provide shelter and support for displaced residents.

Fire Investigation Underway

Investigators have begun a fire investigation to determine the cause and origin of the incident. No official cause has been released at this time. Multiple agencies, including local fire marshals and emergency management, are assisting in the investigation.
